Defender 110 Adventure Vehicle
There’s nothing quite like getting new gear . . . or old gear for that matter. I just upgraded from a compact car to something more capable of keeping up with my adventures.
Finally, after months of searching and researching, I settled on a 1984 Land Rover Defender 110.
My list of requirements included a diesel engine for longevity and fuel economy (the prospect of bio-fuel is also attractive), payload to carry bikes and boats and gear, and aged for the sake of price and the fact that I can handle repairs myself.
That the Land Rover Defender is renowned for its off road abilities is really just a bonus. I’m putting it into service as a daily commuter and gear wagon.
…but since I now have such a capable vehicle at my disposal, I’m already hatching plans for an adventure in October. I’ll be hitting some of the great outdoor destinations, as well as less traveled trails, here in the Southeastern U.S. Details to come. [plans to explore North Carolina the first week of October]
In the meantime, I’ll be well-equipped for my daily training sessions.
If you’re not familiar with the Land Rover Defender, here’s a great video to watch.
