Free-diving Isla Iguana Panama

We spent the day snorkeling at Isla Iguana, about 4 miles off shore from Pedasi, Panama.  Among the obvious (iguana), the island is a mini Galapagos teaming with life above and below the water.

We arrived at low tide and couldn’t get into the water for an hour or so, at least until we could float safely over the coral. Once we were in the water the fun began.  Moray eel chowing on lunch, brilliant parrot fish and assorted blow fish of every color started the dive.

A bit later, a couple hundred yards off shore, we disturbed some white tip reef shark. I was filming during a free dive  around a large coral head in about 25 feet of water when I rounded the corner and swam into a shark sitting on the bottom.  No worries, except one turned into three and they started circling.  They may have just been curious, but it sure seemed like they wanted a nibble.  We headed for the shallows.
