Half Marathon Training …In Half The Time
I’ll be running the Folly Beach Save The Light Half Marathon on February 6th, about 6 weeks out. Except for the occasional 3 mile run and some cross-training, I’ve been taking a break from training since the Barrier Island ECOthon in October.
Now I need to get in shape to run a comfortable and hopefully competitive half marathon in half the time. In reality it’s probably more like a quarter of the time since I haven’t been training at all.
No matter. This should be a good challenge and fun to document.
The goals are:
- train and race injury free
- hold a race pace under 8:30 per mile – modest
I’ll post a 5 week half marathon training schedule soon and will post training updates along the way. This should be interesting, painful and rewarding.
First pass at training schedule. Mixing strength training, cross training, interval training, distance runs and more.
