Adventure race training
Midway through today’s training run, I set my sights on a further target, extending it from 9 miles to 18. At the apex of the run I threw in a crossfit workout in the playground on Sullivan’s Island. This was a bit of a deviation from my half marathon training schedule, but worth the pain.
18 miles was well beyond my furthest run and just about put me on the ground. With a goal of doing a 24 hour adventure race this year, runs will need to get progressively longer. Fortunate for me, I’ve found adding upper body activities to any length workout distributes the pain and refocuses the mind.
