Race Training On The Palmetto Trail
Another great run in Francis Marion National Forest this weekend. This 9 mile trail run, starting at the Palmetto Trailhead, took me along the coastal marsh.
The trail has some gentle ups and downs throughout, with a number of small foot bridges crossing the streams. A bit of standing water and some mud puddles added excitement to sections of the run, requiring thoughtful foot placement as well as the need to carry momentum.
This run was another in my training build-up to the Swamp Fox Adventure Race being held on March 20, 2010 in Francis Marion National Forest. (check out last weeks training run in Ion Swamp) The kayaking leg(s) of the race will likely come through the Buck Hall boat launch, with a run or ride section continuing on from the Palmetto Trailhead just on the other side of the parking lot.
